Our Story

Momo’s was never just about freshies.

From the very beginning, it was about creating something that brought people together.

A reason to slow down.
A reason to smile.
A reason to create.
A reason to feel at home.

Hi. I’m Monica. But if you’ve known me a long time, you probably call me Momo.

When I was little, one of my cousins couldn’t say “Monica.” So someone said, “We’ll just call her Momo.” The name stuck. My family has called me that for as long as I can remember. Later, my closest friends did too. To this day, if someone calls me Momo, I usually know they’ve been part of my life for a very long time.

So when you walk through our door, you’re not walking into some brand I dreamed up. You’re walking into Momo’s, the name the people who love me most have always used. That felt like the right name for a place built on belonging.

I served in the Air Force until Crohn’s disease changed the path I thought my life would take. Like so many unexpected turns in life, it forced me to start over. Culinary school became one of my first baby steps toward building something new. It reminded me that I could still create something meaningful with my own hands, and that hope eventually led me to Momo’s.

It started small. I made one freshie. Then someone asked to buy one.

I said yes.

Then someone else asked. I said yes again.

Before long, those little yeses became something much bigger than I ever imagined: a studio, a place to gather, a home for makers like me.

Some people come to Momo’s to create. Some come to shop. Some come to celebrate a birthday. Some come to discover a new maker. My hope is that no matter what brings you through our doors, you leave feeling like you found a place you belong.

I want you to walk through our front door and feel like you belong here. Not like a customer. Like a neighbor who just happened to stop by, or family, if we’re being honest.

My hope has never been to build the biggest business. My hope has always been to build a place people are excited to come back to.
